How to request deletion
You can ask us to delete your WexaPOS account and the personal data associated with it in two ways:
- Inside the app — open Account Settings, then choose "Delete my account".
- By email — write to support@wexapos.com from the email address registered on the account. Include your subdomain or account ID so we can locate you quickly.
If the request comes from an account owner, we will confirm the request before processing — both to protect you against a hijacked inbox and to give you a chance to export any data you still need.
What gets deleted
When we process a deletion request, the following are removed from our active systems:
- Personal profile information (name, email, phone number, avatar).
- Authentication credentials and all active sessions, API tokens, and device registrations.
- Account preferences and in-app settings.
- Access to the WexaPOS dashboard, mobile app, and any connected integrations.
Backups that include this data are overwritten on our standard backup rotation, typically within 30 days.
What may be retained
Because WexaPOS is a point-of-sale and accounting system, certain transaction and financial records may need to be retained for a limited period where required for:
- Legal compliance — for example, tax laws that require merchants to keep sales records for a defined number of years.
- Fraud prevention — investigating chargebacks, disputed payments, and other financial irregularities.
- Accounting obligations — invoices, receipts, refunds, and ledger entries needed to reconcile historical books.
Where we retain this information, we restrict it to what is necessary, isolate it from the deleted account profile, and delete or anonymize it once the retention period ends. Retention periods vary by jurisdiction.
If you're a tenant owner
Deleting an owner account also affects your team — cashiers, managers, and any cross-linked integrations lose access. If you simply want to step down without closing the business, transfer ownership to another team member first (Account Settings → Team → Transfer ownership), then delete your individual user.
If you want to close the entire business workspace (including team accounts), let us know in your request and we will guide you through it.
Export your data first
Before you delete, consider exporting anything you may need later — sales reports, customer lists, item catalog, ledger entries. You can do this from the Reports and Settings sections of the app, or ask support and we will help.
Timing
We aim to action deletion requests within 7 business days of confirming your identity. You will receive an email confirmation when the deletion is complete.
Changed your mind?
Once the deletion is complete it cannot be reversed. If you change your mind during the confirmation window, reply to the confirmation email and we will cancel the request.
